Net exports surged in the first quarter, helping the economy grow for the first time since 2008, the State Statistics Service said Thursday.
Net exports, or exports minus imports, surged 38 percent in the first three months of the year from the same period in 2009, the service said. Spending by households gained an annual 0.3 percent, while state expenditures added 1.8 percent compared with the previous year.
