Online auction service eBay has decided to work with one distributer rather than several smaller carriers and is looking for a contractor to organize deliveries to Russia, Itar-Tass reported Tuesday.
Local online intermediary service Bay.ru is holding negotiations with eBay on possible cooperation in the delivery of eBay's shipments in Russia, according to the company's representative Anna Kovylyanskaya.
In July, Bay.ru launched its own delivery service Dostami Express, which operates independently of Russian Post. The company claims it can ship a parcel from the U.S. to Russia in seven to 10 days.
Last year, eBay's turnover in Russia was $400 million, according to the company. The online retail service sent about 30,000 shipments to Russia every day.
Currently, the overwhelming majority of eBay orders in Russia are delivered by Russian Post. ?
EBay and Russian Post declined to comment.
