A Siberian man has died after being hit by a mobile medical train while trying to take a selfie on a railroad track, despite the best efforts of the doctors on board to save him.

Eyewitnesses have testified that the man, who appeared to be intoxicated, tried to photograph himself on the tracks between the towns of Lesosibirsk and Abalakovo, Krasnoyarsk Railways said Tuesday in an online statement.

The man ignored all signals given by the approaching train and remained on the tracks, the Rossiiskaya Gazeta newspaper cited a spokesman for Krasnoyarsk Railways as saying.

The 13-wagon train, which travels around Siberia allowing staff to treat patients in remote locations, did not have time to brake and plowed straight into him.

A team of doctors traveling aboard the train were able to provide medical assistance until an ambulance arrived, but the 33-year-old man later died in hospital from his injuries, according to Krasnoyarsk Railways, which is a subsidiary of Russian Railways.

In a similarly tragic incident, a 12-year-old girl in the Moscow region also paid the ultimate price for a good shot on Tuesday. The young girl lost her balance while posing in the window frame of her home and fell eight stories to her death, the Interfax news agency cited a law enforcement source as saying.
