Suicide Alarm System Installed on Moscow Bridge

Dims / Wikicommons

A computerized suicide alarm system has been installed on Moscow's Krymsky Most bridge, the Interfax news agency reported Monday.

The system uses a smart camera system to track those who jump from the bridge and alerts the emergency services.

An initial testing period for the new device will now take place.

Russia's high suicide rate has come under public scrutiny in recent months amid a rise in websites encouraging the country's young people to kill themselves.
