Russia Wants Ukrainian Nationalist Put on International Wanted List

Russia has asked Interpol to place Ukrainian far-right leader Dmytro Yarosh on its international wanted list.

Yarosh heads Ukraine's radical nationalist Right Sector party, which was a force in the street protest movement that toppled Moscow-ally and former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in February.

The Interior Ministry confirmed that documents concerning Yarosh's inclusion on the international wanted list had been sent to Interpol's headquarters in Lyon, France, Interfax reported Friday.

In early March, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against Yarosh on terrorism charges, after he allegedly posted a statement on the group's Vkontakte page urging Islamist insurgency leader Doku Umarov to commit terrorist attacks against Russia.?

A Moscow court sanctioned his arrest in absentia last week.

Yarosh later threatened to blow up pipelines carrying Russian gas through Ukraine and into Europe.

A decision on Yarosh's inclusion on the Interpol list will be made by the organization's secretary general, Ronald Noble.
