It's not something that you see every day: Riot police officers marching a column of 100-plus men down a city street.
This was the scene captured on videotape in the ancient town of Reutov, just south of Moscow, when the police prevented a mass brawl in a local wholesale and retail market this week.
The police were dispatched after receiving a tip that a fight was brewing at the market.
"We immediately sent police squads, which found more than 100 violent men armed with air guns and homemade weapons," a police spokesman told RIA Novosti.
No one was injured, and 103 Russians and citizens of other former Soviet republics were brought to the police station for questioning, the spokesman said.
"They were released after preventive talks," he said.
Eight suspects face charges of violating the rules of the possession of air guns.
The incident occurred Monday but was only announced by the police Thursday, around the time that a driver uploaded a video to YouTube showing the men being marched to the police station. The men in front have their hands behind their heads, while those who follow are marching with their hands on the shoulders of those ahead of them. The driver titled the video, "Cops vs. Migrants, 1-0."
