No Jail for Tax Suspects

The State Duma on Friday passed in a crucial second reading a bill that would abolish the arrest of tax evasion suspects and free them from criminal liability if they are first-time offenders and have paid back the taxes, Interfax reported.

The bill would also increase the amount of money that qualifies for large-scale tax evasion, the Duma’s web site said.
