life sentence for $ 154

SEATTLE, Washington -- A robber who made off with $154 has been sentenced to life in prison under Washington state's new "Three Strikes, You're Out" law. Judge Ronald Castleberry sentenced Larry Fisher, 35, to life in prison Monday without the possibility of parole for the January robbery in a small town north of Seattle. No one was injured. Prosecutor Michael Magee said the life sentence was mandatory because Fisher had been convicted of two previous serious felonies: robbing his grandfather of $390 in 1988, and stealing $100 from a pizza shop in 1986. Before the law was passed, Fisher would have been sentenced to three or four years for the latest robbery, Magee said.
