Cop Held for $1.5M Bribe

A senior Moscow investigator has been caught red-handed accepting the final installment of a $1.5 million bribe to close a smuggling case, Interfax reported Wednesday.

Grigory Dymovets, deputy head of the transportation investigation department of the Moscow police, was detained after accepting $500,000 from the lawyer of an unidentified person involved in a smuggling case handled by Dymovets, the report said, citing the Investigative Committee.

The Investigative Committee said Dymovets received $1 million in April and May. If charged with bribery, Dymovets faces up to 12 years in prison.
