2010 Crash Victim Exhumed

WARSAW ?€” Authorities have exhumed a politician killed with Polish President Lech Kaczynski in a 2010 plane crash in Russia because his family doubted the Russian autopsy.

Monday's exhumation in Warsaw of Przemyslaw Gosiewski is the second such exhumation of one of the 96 people killed near Smolensk, Russia, along with Kaczynski.

It reflects a deep distrust of Russia, which took the lead in examining the bodies and securing the crash site. Some believe that Moscow is trying to cover up mistakes made in handling the disaster.

A lawyer for the Gosiewski family, Rafal Rogalski, told local news agency PAP that the exhumation was carried out at Warsaw's military cemetery.
