Two workers specializing in high-altitude maintenance work died after falling 100 meters into a ventilation pipe at a thermal power plant in the Chelyabinsk region.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning when the workers were repairing the inner surface of a 120-meter ventilation pipe at a power station run by the Ural Blacksmith company, a spokesperson for the Chelyabinsk branch of the Emergency Situations Ministry told Interfax.

The workers then fell into the pipe from a height of 100 meters and were later found dead.

Rescuers and investigators are looking into the incident, the cause of which has not been identified.
