Russian Designer Slava Zaitsev on the Moscow Catwalk

The glamour of legendary Russian designer Slava Zaitsev was honored at this fall's fashion week, with a dazzling opening last Wednesday at the Manezh exhibition hall.



The 76-year-old haute couture designer, who has been compared to France's Christian Dior and Yves Saint Laurent throughout his career, opened Moscow's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Eastern Europe's largest fashion show, with pomp and ceremony.



Zaitsev's son Yegor and granddaughter Maroussia — also fashion designers — presented their own collections alongside their renowned relative.



More than 70 designers from Russia and abroad flocked to Moscow for the twice yearly event, which serves as a platform for designers from former Soviet republics such as Ukraine and Belarus to present their work on the world stage.



The capital will host the next Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in the spring, starting on March 31.
