Travel 'Back to Normal' at Ukrainian Border

Russia has begun letting through hundreds of trucks from Ukraine that had been held up at the border by new custom rules, the Federal Customs Service said in a statement Wednesday.

More than 200 trucks, which got stuck at the border when the rules came in on Oct. 28, have been "processed" at three border-crossing points since Tuesday, the statement said, Interfax reported.

The border holdup marked the latest in a series of disputes over Ukraine's plans to sign a free trade agreement with the European Union. Russia strongly opposes the move, pressuring Ukraine to join the Moscow-led Customs Union of former Soviet republics instead.

Russia said that it had openly announced its new custom rules, but Ukrainian officials argued that the changes were made without warning.
