Russian officials have wrapped up a trip to Latin America, announcing plans to sell military aircraft to Peru and to fulfill an order for helicopters made by Brazil, a senior military official said Thursday.
In the near future, Russia will complete delivery of 12 Mi-35 helicopters to Brazil in line with a 2008 contract, said Alexander Fomin, head of the Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation.
The delivery will be fulfilled either at the end of 2013 or the beginning of 2014, Fomin said, Interfax reported.
Russia has also offered Mi-171 helicopters and armored vehicles to Peru, and the latter is considering the offers, Fomin said.
He was unable to say exactly how many Mi-171s would be included in the proposed deal.
In addition, Russia will repair and modernize a number of MiG-29 jets for Peru, and may repair Su-25 jets for the Latin American country.
