Jealous Wife Kills Husband With Frying Pan

By Peter Spinella

A 36-year-old woman in a fit of jealous rage killed her common-law husband by smacking him in the head with a frying pan, the Investigative Committee said Friday.

But death did not come instantly to the 50-year-old Orenburg resident. The man suffered for more than a month until succumbing to brain injuries on April 24.

Though struck on March 17, the man did not get medical attention until March 26, when his brother noticed his condition worsening and called an ambulance, the Investigative Committee said. The victim then languished in a hospital bed for several weeks until meeting his demise.

The reason for the woman's jealousy was not immediately clear. She has been arrested. The couple had lived together for four years. An investigation is under way.

A criminal case has been opened under Part 4, Article 111, of the Russian Criminal Code: "intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm to a spouse, resulting in the death of the victim," the Investigative Committee said.
