Mass Brawl Reported in Moscow Mall Between Guards and Visitors

Valery Sharifulin / TASS

Russian shoppers reportedly staged a mass brawl with guards over a parking fee at a posh mall over the weekend.

A verbal confrontation over unpaid parking escalated into a fight at Evropeisky Mall in central Moscow, an unnamed law enforcement source told the state-run TASS news agency on Sunday.

More than 10 “visitors from Russia’s southern regions” — a euphemism for the population of Russia’s mostly Muslim Caucasus region — were reportedly involved.

A 10-second video posted online showed police cars and a crowd of people gathered outside the mall.

The fight broke out after one of the visitors refused to pay a parking fee, the source said.

One person was injured and received medical treatment, TASS quoted the law-enforcement source as saying.

Police told TASS they were investigating the incident.
