Frogs Predict Russian Victory in Euro 2016 Opener

A pair of Russian frogs have predicted victory for the national soccer squad in their Euro 2016 opening match against England this Saturday.

Frogs Shrek and Fiona, from the Chelyabinsk Zoo in central Russia, made the prediction in a battle for African cockroaches, the chelyabinsk.ru news outlet reported.

The animals were placed on a miniature football pitch and each given a team to represent. An insect was then placed between them, with the frog first to grab the tasty snack scoring a point for their side.

Fiona won eventual victory for Russia, beating Shrek, representing England, 2-1.

Shrek and Fiona are the latest in a stream of animals predicting the results of major sporting events. Germany's world-famous Paul the Octopus predicted the results of 2010 soccer World Cup with 85 percent accuracy.

Russia will take on England in the group stages of the UEFA European Championship in Marseille, France. Kickoff is at 10 p.m. on Saturday June 11.
