Plane Spirals out of Control on Icy Airport Runway in Moscow

A business class jet cascaded off a runway at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport, the state-run RIA Novosti news agency reported Tuesday.

Surveillance footage posted online shows the plane skidding off the runway’s asphalt and onto the surrounding airfield after landing. The three passengers and three members of crew on board the flight traveling from Baku were reportedly unharmed.

“Everything is in order with the crew and passengers,” RIA cited an unnamed Sheremetyevo representative as saying.

The airport has continued to operate as normal, he added, despite airport officials closing one lane of the runway.

After the incident, the Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into the Jet Air Group, the airline that organized the flight, RIA reported.
