Russian Carjacker Flees Snowball-Throwing Traffic Cops

A carjacker in Russia’s Far East has made a brief and unlikely getaway from traffic police who were filmed throwing snowballs in an attempt to stop his escape in a stolen car.

Footage obtained by the Sakh.com local news agency shows two officers on opposite sides of a two-lane road pelting snowballs at the approaching vehicle. Their heroic efforts do not appear to make a difference as the car takes off at high-speed.

The suspect was ultimately detained a few hours after the chase on Saturday night. A follow-up video shows the car’s distressed owner surveying her bullet-ridden vehicle.

On Monday, the suspected carjacker released an obscenity-laced video complaining of police abuse and showing bruises that he claimed were the result of rubber bullets fired by the authorities during the chase.
