Babushka Lena, a 91-year-old pensioner from the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk, has become Russia's latest Instagram travel star after meeting a fellow blogger on a solo trip to Vietnam two years ago that helped promote her colorful social media page.

Elena Erkhova, born in 1927, saves up money from her pension, as well as by selling flowers and knitted goods, to travel across the world, Ekaterina Papina, a Russian blogger who met her in 2016, wrote in a Facebook post.

During World War II, Lena worked in Orenburg as a harvester, where she met her future husband. She soon left her husband with her daughter after he began drinking and beating her, Papina said.

Baba Lena said she discovered her passion for traveling at the age of 83, as she didn't have the time or money to do so earlier.

She now has over 72 thousand followers on her Instagram account (babushka_1927), where she posts pictures of her travels from around the world.
