Russian Lesbian Killed Uzbek Man Who Attacked Her While Kissing Girlfriend – Report

Russian authorities said Wednesday that they had completed an investigation into a 23-year-old woman accused of killing an Uzbek migrant worker with a shard of glass.

According to a statement released by the Investigative Committee's Lipetsk regional branch, the woman was drunk in the man's rented apartment last New Year's Eve when she "demonstrated" a wrestling takedown that smashed a glass panel in a door between rooms.

She then took a shard of glass and stabbed the 31-year-old Uzbek in the stomach, killing him, and fled the scene, the statement said.

A report by local news site Lipetsk Media said that the woman, Kristina Azovtseva, was defending herself and her girlfriend because the man attacked them while they were kissing.

Citing friends of Azovtseva, the report said she and her girlfriend were guests in the man's apartment and had imbibed a considerable amount of alcohol before the host became enraged at the kiss and attacked Azovtseva.

The report said Azovtseva, a train attendant, was trying to get the murder charge reduced to manslaughter committed in self-defense, but the Investigative Committee's statement Wednesday said the suspect was still facing a charge of murder, punishable by six to 15 years in prison.

A Message from The Moscow Times:

Dear readers,

We are facing unprecedented challenges. Russia's Prosecutor General's Office has designated The Moscow Times as an "undesirable" organization, criminalizing our work and putting our staff at risk of prosecution. This follows our earlier unjust labeling as a "foreign agent."

These actions are direct attempts to silence independent journalism in Russia. The authorities claim our work "discredits the decisions of the Russian leadership." We see things differently: we strive to provide accurate, unbiased reporting on Russia.

We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced. But to continue our work, we need your help.

Your support, no matter how small, makes a world of difference. If you can, please support us monthly starting from just $2. It's quick to set up, and every contribution makes a significant impact.
