A dozen football fans riled by their national team's early exit from the World Cup hurled condoms and shouted epithets at the Russian Football Union on Monday — a slang word for "condom" also means "idiot."
The fans, identified as "teenagers" by the head of the union's press service, lobbed the rubbers at the downtown Moscow building to show their disdain for the organization's president, Nikolai Tolstoi, state news service ITAR-Tass reported.
This is not the first time that fans have rallied against the football union in protest against its policies.
After Russia failed to advance from the group stages of the 2012 European Championships, fans of the Spartak Moscow team gathered outside the union's building to call for the resignation of then-president Sergei Fursenko.
