Last night was the coldest felt in Moscow this winter with temperatures falling to almost minus 20 degrees Celsius in the city, and it was even colder in the Moscow region, a meteorologist said Monday.
Early on Monday morning, the temperature at the weather station in northeast Moscow dropped to minus 18.6 C, while in the city center it was minus 16.5 C, a meteorologist from the federal weather service said.
Temperatures fell to almost minus 26 C in the Moscow region towns of Klin, Serpukhov and Volokolamsk, and in Mozhaisk minus 24.1 C was the lowest temperature recorded, Interfax reported.
Daytime temperatures on Monday will not fall below minus 13-14 C, but from Monday evening to Tuesday morning temperatures could reach minus 21 C.
Temperatures are not expected to pick up until the end of the week, and even then, the difference won't be significant.
