A car rammed through the Moscow River's stone embankment on Tuesday and fell into the icy waters below, the Emergency Situations Ministry said.
Rescuers pulled a woman out the car, which went into the river near the Krymsky Bridge, and handed her over to an ambulance team, the ministry said in a statement.
"Ouch" wrote one person beside a picture on Instagram of the car floating upside down in the river.
"I wonder what kind of speed it was going to knock down the stone embankment," another person said. The car must have driven into the embankment head on, he said.
No information about whether any other people had been in the vehicle or the state of the woman's health was immediately available.
The car was pulled out of the river at 3:30 p.m.
