A 43-year-old man killed his spouse, their two young sons and her parents at home in the Siberian republic of Khakasia, where she had fled after the couple broke up in Belarus, investigators said Monday.
He then tossed $6,000 over the neighbor's fence with a note requesting "to bury everyone," went into his kids' room and turned his 12-gauge shotgun on himself, the local branch of the Investigative Committee said in a statement.
The couple had separated half a year earlier, and the man tracked his estranged family down at the grandparents' house in Khakasia, Life News reported. The two children were aged 4 and 9.
The entire family died at the scene, except for the grandmother, who succumbed to her injuries in a hospital several hours later, investigators said.
The incident occurred in the village of Podsineye. The money was in a package of $5,000 and 40,000 rubles.
