PERM — Oboronprom subsidiary United Engine Corp. has bought Pratt & Whitney's stakes in aircraft engine makers Aviadvigatel and Perm Motor Plant, Interfax reported.
An Oboronprom spokesman said the deal is part of the consolidation of engine manufacturing assets at United Engine. Cooperation between Pratt & Whitney and United Engine may continue within the MS-21 program, he said. Pratt & Whitney intends to remain on the Russian market and is offering its new PurePower engine for Irkut's MS-21 plane, parent company United Technologies' Russian office said in a statement.
United Engine combines 80 percent of the assets in Russia's airplane engine manufacturing industry.
