Investigators have charged a woman who died in a road accident involving the car of a LUKoil vice president with causing her own death, Interfax reported Friday.
The cars of LUKoil's Anatoly Barkov and prominent gynecologist Olga Alexandrina collided on Moscow's Leninsky Prospekt in February 2010. Barkov and his driver sustained minor injuries, while Alexandrina and her mother-in-law Vera Sidelnikova, who was in her car, were killed.
Police closed the case last fall after blaming the incident on Alexandrina despite independent inquiries finding otherwise. Relatives of those killed successfully appealed the closure in the Constitutional Court in July.
Neither Barkov nor the police have commented on the charges against Alexandrina, who may be posthumously sentenced to five years in prison.
