Russian-Bulgarian trade grew more than 50 percent last year, but Moscow still called for diversification of economic contacts, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Thursday after negotiations with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Nikolai Mladenov.
"Our trade grew more than 50 percent last year. We are glad that is so, but we would also like to diversify economic contacts and give more attention to large joint projects, high-tech cooperation and joint innovations," he said.
Energy and tourism make up the lion's share of the bilateral cooperation, Mladenov said. "We must broaden the list of joint areas because Bulgaria-Russia relations have an effect on EU-Russia relations and the Atlantic context," he said.
