MAKHACHKALA — One militant leader and seven suspected militants have been killed in Dagestan, local police spokesman Vyacheslav Gasanov said Monday.
The men were killed in a shootout with police Sunday after they barricaded themselves in a house in Makhachkala, Gasanov said. One man has been identified as a militant leader who oversaw terrorist activities in the city, police said.
