An illegal casino with 60 slot machines, located at the Krasny Put railroad equipment factory in downtown Moscow, was busted by transport police, the Interior Ministry said Thursday on its web site.
Investigators acted on a tip, the report said. Riot police were needed to enter the building, which admitted patrons with a password changed weekly.
About 100,000 rubles ($3,100) in cash was found in the slot machines, the report said. The owners of the casino face up to five years in prison on charges of illegal entrepreneurship. President Dmitry Medvedev ordered Mayor Sergei Sobyanin on Monday to crack down on illegal gambling in Moscow.
