About 300 supporters of a candidate in local Dagestani elections attempted to storm the town hall building in Babayurt on Tuesday, forcing the police to fire warning shots, Interfax reported.
The incident took place after the burial of a local resident, shot dead Sunday by an unidentified assailant during a mass brawl involving supporters of the candidate, local deputy prosecutor Eldar Karagishev, a law enforcement source said.
