The Moscow Times presents the second album of children's drawings

In newspapers and on the internet there are often stories about children who need help. Once we read the history of a young girl who had been bedridden since birth. Her mother didn’t ask for money, although she badly needed them. She only asked for a camera with a special tripod (the child only had use of one hand). The girl wanted a camera because she didn’t want to just lie in bed all day, staring out the window or watching television. Like all people she wanted to give something back to the world. We wanted to help her, to let her realise herself through creativity.

And so the idea was born to set up a site and an album of the drawings of children with disabilities, so that they could feel like real artists and so that they could proudly open the album and see in it their drawings and their names.

In 2008 The Moscow Times’ “Create Yourself” project, a charity programme from disable children, was started. In connection with the programme a charity benefit is held, a drawing competition is underway, where children upload their drawings on www.sotvorisebya.ru. This work is included in the album which you are holding in your hands.

The Moscow Times newspaper, was not expecting how many people would support the “Create Yourself” project. Thanks to our partners we managed to not only financially help the children (part of the money went to treatment and part of education), many children were presented with tickets to musicals and other cultural events. And we managed to publish this album.

We want to say a big “thank you” to our little authors. You are true artists and now you can proudly show this album to your friends and family.
