The Moscow Times presents the second album of children's drawings

In newspapers and on the internet there are often stories about children who need help. Once we read the history of a young girl who had been bedridden since birth. Her mother didn’t ask for money, although she badly needed them. She only asked for a camera with a special tripod (the child only had use of one hand).

About the project

When a man sees the results of his work – a built house, a growing tree, a picture, a written story, he is happy because he realizes that he doesn’t live in vain. And it is a special pleasure when other people – your family, friends and colleagues acknowledge your achievements.

That’s why we would like to give children an opportunity to become creators notwithstanding their physical condition. A web site and photo album with their works will stand as evidence that we can do a lot in art and life.

I like Sunday more than Monday... (Polleena Grigoryeva)

I like Sunday more than Monday... (Polleena Grigoryeva)

Our daughter is 13, she studies in the 7th form. Despite of the fact that Polly has hearing disability (her left ear doesn't hear at all and her right ear suffers from serious sensorineural hearing loss), the girl has been studying from the very start at an ordinary secondary school with excellent marks in all the subjects. She has taken part in many contests and has been a success. We would like to hope Polleena's example could inspire other families with disabled children.
Seryozhka

Seryozhka

This story begins on 3 October 1997 in a small northern town when her firstborn child appeared on the earth—a son. She and her husband anxiously awaited his birth, made plans, and dreamed about what he would become. But the first sign of trouble burst out with the child’s first scream.

Ingra and I agreed to meet at the “Coffeehouse” near Belorusskaya. I was a little late and flew into the cafe, not noticing amidst the hurrying pedestrians the pretty, young, pregnant girl standing near the entrance. Then she called me and we finally found each other. Inga Medvedeva was a champion paralympic athlete in skiing. She was 27 and awaiting the arrival of her child. When you see how she walks along the street, you don’t even realize she’s missing a leg. While we drank tea, Inga told me her story.
