""I think the Council of Europe parliamentary assembly delegates did not understand one very simple truth - we need them as much as they need us,"" Yastrzhembsky told a news conference Friday. Upset by the handling of the war, the parliamentary assembly of the 41-nation Council of Europe on Thursday stripped Russia of its voting rights and proposed suspending its membership. The Russian delegation promptly walked out. ""While earlier the European Parliament was able to resolve some problems in Chechnya, that door has now been slammed shut by a number of emotional deputies,"" Yastrzhembsky said. ""The visits of lords or other delegates under the aegis of PACE to the territory of the Chechen republic must be stopped.
