Korzhakov Protege Gets New Post

A top aide to the president's all-powerful security chief has been named to the board of a new financial telecommunications service with links to the old KGB, the newspaper Segodnya reported Friday. Citing ""informed sources within the government,"" the newspaper said that Georgy Rogozin, first deputy of Alexander Korzhakov, who heads the presidential and Kremlin security services, had been appointed by presidential decree to the organizational committee of the Russian Financial and Stock Communications Foundation, or RFFK, a nonprofit body providing telecommunications services for financial and stock operations. The RFFK is a new organization set up by presidential decree at the beginning of July. It comes under the aegis of the Federal Agency for Government Communications, formerly a branch of the KGB. Neither the president's press service nor the Kremlin Security Service could confirm the report.
