President Burhanuddin Rabbani's administration blamed the attack on his opponents, led by Prime Minister Gulbuddin Hekmatyar and northern warlord General Abdul Rashid Dostum.
It followed a devastating bombardment that killed 45 people Friday, and came just before Hekmatyar was due to meet United Nations envoy Mahmoud Mestiri in Afghanistan on Tuesday as part of UN-led efforts to end factional fighting that has killed more than 12,000 people in Kabul since the Islamic mujahedin took power from a collapsed communist government in April 1992.
