Two Russian swimmers — Nikita Lobintsev and Vladimir Morozov — have been cleared to participate in the Olympic Games in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro after a ruling by the International Olympic Committee, despite the fact that their names appeared in a report by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the All Sport website reported, citing the athletes’ representatives.
Lobintsev and Morozov were previously banned by the International Water Sports Federation from participating in the Olympic Games over WADA’s report on state-sponsored doping in Russian sports. Athletes will now retract the complaints they sent to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Lobintsev was awarded a silver medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Both swimmers received bronze medals at the 2012 Olympics in London.
