A Russian lawmaker in Siberia's Novosibirsk region was killed by an explosion in her car Thursday night, the Interfax news agency reported.

Police identified the victim as Oksana Bobrovskaya, a member of the regional legislature from the ruling United Russia party, an Interior Ministry spokesperson was cited by Interfax as saying.

The explosion also claimed a second victim — a man was also in the Toyota RAV-4 compact SUV with Bobrovskaya, and has been identified as her husband, the spokesperson said, Interfax reported.

The pro-Kremlin LifeNews sensationalist news agency said the explosion was caused by a hand grenade, and identified the second victim, Bobrovskaya's husband as the perpetrator.

“According to preliminary information,” the man allegedly brought the hand grenade into the car, after suspecting his wife of infidelity, LifeNews reported, without citing any sources.

The couple are survived by their 4-year-old daughter, the report said.
