Investigative journalists are publishing material linking Russian President Vladimir Putin to offshore companies in an attempt to ?€?destabilize the situation in Russia,?€? Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced Monday, the RIA Novosti news agency reported.
Peskov told journalists on Monday that the attempt is futile and unlikely to have any negative impact because it ?€?lacks evidence.?€?
?€?Other heads of government are featured but only photographs of Putin are published,?€? Peskov said, RIA Novosti reported.
?€?Putin, Russia, our country, our stability, our upcoming election ?€” the fundamental aim is to destabilize all of it,?€? he added.
Peskov was answering a question about the reasons behind the appearance of Putin's photograph in a number of Western newspapers in connection with an investigation into offshore companies.
