Snowden Book to Hit U.S. Stores Friday

The first major book on NSA Intelligence leaker Edward Snowden is set to hit U.S. stores on Friday.

"The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World's Most Wanted Man" is being released by Vintage, part of the Knopf Doubleday division of Random House.

According to the publisher, the book tells "the inside story of Snowden's deeds and the journalists who faced down enormous pressure from the U.S. and U.K. governments to break one of the most important stories of our time," The New York Times reported.

The book's author, Guardian correspondent Luke Harding, lived in Moscow between 2007 and 2011, before becoming the first British journalist to be expelled from Russia since the end of the Cold War.

The newspaper said the deportation was linked to Harding's reporting of Wikileaks cables that said Russia under Putin's administration had become a "virtual mafia state."

Snowden — whose own leaks caused considerable damage to the U.S. intelligence agency — is currently living in Russia, where he was granted political asylum in August.
