A pensioner in a Siberian village staged a dirty protest against corruption in Russia's notoriously murky legal system by dumping a bucket of feces over a judge, Russian media reported Friday.
The 65-year-old man, a resident of the Omsk region, poured the bucket's contents — which he had "collected over several days" — over his target as the judge was exiting the courthouse, the FlashSiberia news site reported Friday, citing a law enforcement source.
The enraged pensioner shouted that he was protesting against corruption in the courts, the report added.
A regional representative of Russia's Investigative Committee confirmed to FlashSiberia that the incident had taken place and said that an investigation was under way.
The global anti-corruption NGO Transparency International ranked Russia a dismal 136th out of 175 countries in its 2014 Corruption Perceptions index.
This is not the first time Omsk region residents have found creative ways to express their frustration with the legal system. Last month, a man reacted to his conviction by dropping his pants and mooning the startled judge while shouting an obscenity, FlashSiberia reported.
In another part of Siberia this year, a disgruntled farmer expressed his opposition to what he termed "debt slavery" by dumping a large pile of manure outside a branch of state banking giant Sberbank. He was fined $200 for his act of protest.
