A kindergarten manager in Siberia faces embezzlement charges for allegedly selling a horse to a butcher that had been presented as a gift to the kindergarten children, prosecutors said in a statement Tuesday.

The horse was presented to the school by a local farm chief in the Zabaikalsky region a couple of years ago, but instead of providing entertainment for the children, it has been butchered and its meat has been sold off, the regional prosecutor's office reported.

The kindergarten manager allegedly pocketed the proceeds from the sale, prosecutors said, adding that she now faces embezzlement charges.
