A farm worker has died after being hit by an agricultural helicopter that was spraying crops in southern Russia, a news report said Thursday.

The 50-year-old man, who was working on a rice field in the Krasnodar region, was hit by an unidentified part of the helicopter and was killed instantly, the TASS news agency cited regional investigators as saying.

Other workers said the worker had been warned about the dangers posed by the MI-2 helicopter, which was flying extremely low to spray chemicals over the rice fields, the report said.

Investigators are conducting checks, after which they will decide whether or not to launch a criminal investigation, TASS reported.
