Russian Designer Presents Hijab With Putin Portrait

Islamic clothing designer showcases hijab with stylized portrait of Russian President Vladimir Putin across the chest, IslamNews portal reported.

Russian Muslim clothing designer Zukhra Abushayeva presented her creation at a recent fashion show titled “We don't abandon our own,” and said her work was intended to show appreciation for Putin's leadership, IslamNews reported last week.

Abushaeva's work, which included a red dress with a graffiti-style drawing of Putin on its front, caused a ?€?stir?€? attendees at this month's showcase, the report said. Some in the audience, however, found the outfit distasteful, the report added.

The designer countered that she wanted to show appreciation for Muslim life in Russia, according to a video posted online by IslamNews.

?€?Name me another country — except Sharia ones ?€” where it is forbidden to smoke on the street, where it is forbidden to drink after a certain time of day, where it is possible to wear a hijab to schools … and now raise your hands, if you aren't pleased with our president,?€? she told the audience.

… we have a small favor to ask.
