Ozzy Toasts Medvedev

Hard rock legend Ozzy Osbourne congratulated President Dmitry Medvedev on the president’s 45th birthday, Komsomolskaya Pravda reported Tuesday.

A short video posted on the daily’s web site shows the 61-year-old musician, who performed in Moscow on Monday, waving on camera and saying: “Hi, Mr. President. I’m Ozzy Osbourne. From me plus KP, have a great happy birthday.”

Medvedev repeatedly has professed a fondness for old-school hard rock bands such as Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin as well as Black Sabbath, which was Osbourne’s first prominent music group. The president also sipped tea with U2’s frontman Bono ahead of the band’s Moscow show in August.

The Kremlin made no comment on Osbourne’s congratulations on Tuesday.

Medvedev, who was born on Sept. 14, 1965, celebrated his birthday with his family in the seaside presidential residence in Sochi.
