Moscow's biggest fire in 25 years broke out late Thursday at the Tushinskiy machinery factory in the northwest of the capital, the Interfax news agency reported Friday.

The fire started at about 9 p.m., according to the Emergency Situations Ministry website. Ninety-seven firefighters were dispatched to the scene.

The fire spread over an area of 15,000 square meters, and it took almost five hours to extinguish, Interfax reported.

The cause of the fire is still unclear and is being investigated by the Moscow police. The fire broke out at a warehouse where barrels of diesel fuel are stored, according to the press office of the Moscow police, Interfax reported.

Nobody was injured during the incident.
