A cargo of anthrax vaccine that sank in a Siberian river, prompting health warnings in the area, has been found, and all the vials appear intact, an official said.
An emergency-services spokesperson for the Sakha region, also known as Yakutia, said the cargo was found in the Aldan River, where the boat carrying it had sunk, near the town of Tommot, the Interfax news agency reported Monday.
Officials gave up on finding the cargo last week and issued warnings to residents of a local village to keep their children away from the river and drink only boiled water.
But fortunately the "security of the packaging was not compromised" by the time the cargo was found Saturday, the report said.
