A cash machine located inside Russia's parliament building was vandalized overnight, lawmaker Alexander Sidyakin said Thursday.

Sidyakin tweeted a picture of the damaged Sberbank ATM, which he later said was located on the 12th floor of the State Duma's new building on Georgiyevsky Pereulok in downtown Moscow. No money was stolen from the ATM, news agency Interfax cited the head of the Duma's media relations department as saying.

Igor Lebedev, the legislative body's deputy speaker, told the TASS news agency that the Duma could harshen its security measures in response to the incident.

The deputy added that those responsible for damaging the cash machine could easily be identified, given the limited number of people who have access to the building at night.
