Jealous Husband Sets Wrong Car on Fire

A jealous husband in the Yaroslavl region set a Mercedes on fire to get revenge on its driver, whom he believed was his wife's lover — only to discover he'd targeted the wrong vehicle, regional media reported Monday.

The man, a 31-year-old resident of the town of Uglich, now faces up to five years in prison for destroying a vehicle that contained 5.5 million rubles ($148,000) worth of appliances, Yarnovosti reported.

The vehicle belonged to a private company that had been carrying out deliveries in the area and was completely destroyed in the incident, which occurred in April, according to the report.

Police only now managed to find the main suspect, who when tracked down said he had set the car on fire because he believed the delivery man had been visiting his wife.
