Half of Russians Own National Flags

Coinciding with Russia's National Flag day on August 22, the Levada Center, and independent pollster, published a survey of Russian attitudes toward national symbols, comparing July 2015 data to responses collected in December 2005. The survey results show that in 2015 half of the population has the national anthem memorized, up from one third of the population 10 years ago. There has also been a rise in ownership of the Russian national flag and patriotic sentiment toward it as a national symbol. The poll found that every second respondent has a Russian flag at home, whereas only one in three had flags when asked in 2009.
